Thanks explores the odd, playful, and sometimes jagged rhythms and tonalities of everyday domestic life by way of a series of stacked cards that fill a house-shaped book. Each card/page features a word or phrase to which one might reasonably say “thanks” in response. Emerging from over 15 years of partnership, Thanks sketches in dynamic, elastic lines, form and textures aspects of coupledom, parenthood, collaboration and cohabitation that are familiar both in their universality and in their quirkiness (with a nod to Tolstoy’s famous “Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way,” we would hope to complement and complicate “unhappy” with “amusing & amused,” “confusing & confused,” “snarky” and so on…).
