Inspired by the PRC’s 2013 “filial piety law” requiring adult children to visit their parents and provide them with both emotional and financial support as they age, Monika Lin’s woodblock prints accompany both the text excerpts of the law in Chinese and in English translation as well as a set of verse renditions of the 14th century Twenty-four Filial Exemplars‘ short tales of Confucian filial devotion written by Guo Jujing (郭居敬).
